Local newspaper editor A. B. Rice chronicled the boom and bust economy of the village/town/city of West Toronto Junction that challenged Toronto for business and industry 1888-1909 in a lively and entertaining series of articles for the West Toronto Weekly during the 1940s and 1950s that form the basis of this book.
His memoir is also a call to action for the preservation of local heritage that resonates from his century to ours.
