To mark the 150th Anniversary of the Mackenzie Rebellion, the North York Historical Society sponsored a number of bus tours of heritage sites in North York associated with the uprising. This booklet resulted form those tours, and is intended to provide a guide to those few remaining locations which once were witness to the roots of citizen rebellion.

The Patriots of North York did not lightly take part in armed insurrection. These were men intent on building a new country based on ideals of fairness, with a government properly elected, responsible and responsive to its electors. They risked their lives for those ideals.
