About the Artist:
Donna Langhorne, is a member of the Saulteaux Ojibway, Fishing Lake First Nations Saskatchewan. She has been painting professionally for the past 10 years; is a self-taught, versatile artist, who self-identifies professionally as "Donna the Strange". Comfortable in many different forms and genres, Donna has become widely recognized for her paintings in the Woodlands style on subjects addressing contemporary issues facing Indigenous people. Woodland style painting is characterized by bright colours, bold outlines, spirit lines, abstract forms, and nature subjects.
Her Seven Visions series, completed in 2017, was selected for public display nationally by Artists Against Racism. The Reconciliation Series, a series of 7 large paintings, addresses contemporary issues facing Indigenous peoples. Topics include addiction, missing and murdered Indigenous women and residential school experiences.
